Low moisture- quick drying?

Low Moisture Upholstery Cleaning: Fast Drying, Deep Results — Without the Waterlog

Imagine having your sofa professionally cleaned at lunchtime — and curling up on it, dry and refreshed, that same evening. That’s the benefit of low moisture upholstery cleaning — a smarter, faster approach for modern homes.

At Spruced Up Carpet Cleaning, we’ve recently invested in advanced training, the latest equipment, and specially formulated cleaning products to bring you outstanding low moisture results. As proud members of the NCCA (National Carpet Cleaners Association), we believe in continuous improvement — and using the right method for the right fabric.

What is Low Moisture Upholstery Cleaning?

“Low moisture” isn’t just one method — it’s a category of cleaning techniques designed to reduce drying time and prevent over-wetting, especially important when dealing with delicate or moisture-sensitive fabrics like viscose, which is made from wood pulp. Using too much water on such fibres can lead to distortion, damage, or browning.

In some cases, specialist solvent-based cleaning is more appropriate for these delicate materials — delivering a safe and effective clean with minimal moisture risk.

But there’s another powerful, science-driven solution we now offer…

Introducing LMRC: Low Moisture Rotary Cleaning

One of the most exciting advances in our service is the adoption of Low Moisture Rotary Cleaning (LMRC). This technique uses a rotary low-speed orbital machine paired with fabric-appropriate cleaning pads to gently but thoroughly lift soil from upholstery.

Combined with the latest encapsulation chemistry — inspired by innovations like those from Vac Away and Truck Mount Forums (TMF) in the U.S. — LMRC allows us to clean effectively while using a fraction of the water required for traditional Hot Water Extraction (HWE).

How Does It Work?

Encapsulation Chemistry: Advanced polymers surround and trap dirt particles. These tiny crystals dry quickly and can be removed with a pad or vacuuming, leaving no sticky residue behind.

Low Speed Orbital Pad Cleaning: Using a rotary low-speed orbital tool, we select from a range of specialised pads depending on the upholstery type. These include:

Agitator pads of varying grades to help loosen embedded soil

Absorbent pads that lift out dislodged dirt and moisture

Combination pads made from materials like cotton and synthetic striping, designed to provide massive surface area coverage and consistent chemical application across the fabric.

This controlled and effective process gently dislodges soil while distributing cleaning agents evenly, all while minimising moisture.

Fast Drying Times: Thanks to the low moisture method and encapsulation technology, many furniture pieces are dry in zero to 30 minutes, meaning minimal disruption and quicker turnaround.

LMRC vs HWE — Which Is Right?

HWE (Hot Water Extraction) still plays an important role — particularly for deep restoration cleaning or heavily soiled upholstery. However, it typically involves more water, longer drying times, and more preparation.

Low Moisture Rotary Cleaning is ideal for:

• Routine or maintenance cleans

• Delicate and moisture-sensitive fibres

• Households with children or pets

• Same-day turnaround or short notice

• Reducing downtime and improving indoor comfort
